The holidays are over and it is time to begin thinking of the upcoming 2016 Maple Season. I am excited to get started. El Nino’ may have an effect this year resulting in warmer than normal temperatures this spring for the northern Maple zone. Below is a map from NOAA showing the area where there is a greater than 50-50 chance of above normal temperatures (the red zone) from February through April. It sure would be nice to get a streak of freezing nights and warm days toward the end of March along with a couple of 5 inch snow falls, like we had in 2013. This is the time to get in the woods to repair and replace your tubing and in some cases begin to tap.
Give me a call or stop on by. I am available most days and on weekends and carry most tapping and tubing supplies. Don’t forget the Roth Sugar Bush Open House next week February 3-6.
Have a great Week,
Don
