Last night was our first freezing night since we put in our 2000 buckets in the St. Croix Valley. We collected 811 gallons from 1500 taps today, sugar content ranged from 3.0 to 3.4 per cent. Not bad considering 2015 average was 2.2 to 2.6 %. Snow flurries are forecast through Saturday, clearing on Sunday with temps, 40’s highs and 20’s the lows all next week. We are anticipating a good second half of March. It is, after all, March 18th and these temperatures are average. We will be collecting the remainder of the 500 buckets tomorrow morning and fire up the 3×10 Intensofire evaporator and the CDL 600 gallon per hour Reverse Osmosis at noon on the 19th.
